Renewal Foundation Homes

Building Smart, Living Sustainably

At The Renewal Foundation, we believe affordable housing shouldn’t stop at the purchase price; it should remain affordable to live in.  That belief shapes everything we build.

We take a practical, intentional approach to construction, focusing on efficiency, quality, and smart design to keep both upfront costs and long-term monthly expenses as low as possible.

Our homes are built to be energy efficient from the ground up. We use high-quality insulation, and more of it, to reduce heat loss, maintain consistent indoor temperatures, and lower energy demand. Energy-efficient windows and doors further improve performance by preventing drafts and reducing the strain on heating and cooling systems.

Wherever possible, we use recycled materials in our homes.  Using recycled and reclaimed materials in home building cuts embodied carbon by up to 40%, diverts landfill waste, and can reduce material costs by 20% to 50%. It requires upfront planning but yields highly durable, energy-efficient, unique structures customized to the local climate.

Design also plays a critical role. By keeping homes appropriately sized and eliminating unnecessary space, we reduce the amount of air that needs to be heated or cooled. This not only lowers utility costs but also makes each home more practical and affordable to maintain over time.

We emphasize simple, efficient building structures, favoring compact layouts that maximize usable space without waste. Thoughtful features such as natural light, functional floor plans, and built-in storage improve livability without increasing cost.

At the same time, we are committed to environmentally responsible building practices. By reducing energy consumption and using materials wisely, we create homes that are both sustainable and cost-effective for the long term.

The result is straightforward: lower monthly payments, reduced utility bills, and homes that support lasting stability, not ongoing financial strain.

The goal here is to build environmentally friendly homes while keeping costs down as much as possible, and help low-income families be able to have a home and be self-sustaining.  Please consider a donation to help us achieve that goal.
